Biotechnology Department of the college was inaugurated by then Manager of the college Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa on September 3rd 2001. The department started with 20 students and two staff has grown up to strength of 135 students and 10 staff. Currently the department offers Undergraduate and Post graduate programmes with an intake of 36 with 13 respectively. In its 17 years of existence the Post Graduate Department of Biotechnology of the Mar Thoma college could boast 16 University ranks. The Department has excellent infra-structural facilities like Molecular Biology, Plant tissue culture, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Animal tissue culture, Biochemistry, Botany and Zoology labs with state of the art equipments. Many of our students are employed in National and international institutes. All this was possible only through the grace of God and nothing else. The department aims to impart quality training with distinctive proficiency of merging Biotechnological principles with current needs of the society.
