Commerce:The lifeline of career!
The Department of Commerce of Mar Thoma College of Science and Technology, Ayur started functioning in the year 2005 with B.Com. Degree (Computer Application) course and was upgraded to a Post Graduate Department with the introduction of M.Com. Degree (Finance and Accounting) in 2010. B. Com (Finance) was started in the year 2020. From 2024 onwards, 4 Year Undergraduate Program implements for students. The department of Commerce has been presenting excellent record of academic performance since its inception along with equipping its students with knowledge, skills and tools to make them competitive in a global economic environment.
The department offers two undergraduate degree programmes and one post graduate programme. The department also offers to its students’ various career advancement Programmes and add on courses to equip students to reach their goals faster and in an efficient manner.

TITLE | M.Com.(Finance) |
Programme Overview: | The two year Master’s programme comprising four semesters includes, Core courses and a Project and Viva Voce in the final semester.

B.Com, B.Com ( Honours), B.Com (Honours with Research) in Finance | A pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the State or an Examination accepted by the University as equivalent thereto provided candidates coming from Non – commerce group should have at least 45% of the aggregate marks. |

M.Com (Finance & Accounting)
| Commerce as Core Course with not less than 4.5 CCPA(S) out of 10 in B.Com Computer Application/ B.Com Tourism and Travel Management (Career related/ Vocational/ Restructured)/ B.Com Taxation, Procedure and Practices (Career related/ Vocational/ Restructured)/ B.Com Actuarial Science (Vocational)/ B.Com Office Management and Secretarial Practice/ B.Com Hotel Management and Catering (Career related/Restructured).

After successful completion of Under Graduate Level Course of Commerce, students can opt for Post graduate level courses such as M.Com. or MBA, or can gain entry for professional courses such as Chartered Accountancy (CA), Cost Accountancy (ICAI), Company Secretaryship (CS), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), CPA, ACCA and various PG Diploma courses. Students can also find various entry level jobs in the fields of Accounting, Banking and Finance, Commerce as well as Research. Students are eligible to pursue teaching profession and/or research after completion of Honours with Research level Commerce and NET/JRF. Students also gain Junior level jobs at MNCs and other firms after M.Com course. |
