The Department of Polymer Chemistry has commenced its functioning in 1995, the year at which Mar Thoma College of Science and Technology was inaugurated and affiliated to Kerala university. Since the Polymer Chemistry deals with the applications of Polymers in daily life and in scientific inventions, the Department plays a pivotal role to attract students of urban and rural areas to pursue higher studies in this field. In the last three decades, hundreds of students completed the degree course in Polymer Chemistry with flying colors. We have started the Post Graduate course in Polymer Chemistry in 2012 and it attained a prestigious position among the other P.G programs in our institution.Mar Thoma College of Science and Technology commenced B.Sc Degree Course in Chemistry in 2021.The conduct of course is under the stewardship of Department of Polymer Chemistry. The Department owns a group of talented teachers including senior Professors who are committed to motivate and guide the students.

Under Graduate Course

BSc Polymer Chemistry

It is a job oriented course which also enables the students to pursue studies in Plastic and Engineering Technology, Polymer Science, Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry.

BSc Chemistry

BSc Chemistry is a graduation course of 3 years duration, in the science subject Chemistry. The curriculum comprises of Chemistry as the Core subject and Physics and Mathematics as complimentary subjects.

Post Graduate Course

MSc Polymer Chemistry

Most of the research works progressing in the field of Chemistry are closely related to polymers The Post Graduate degree in Polymer Chemistry helps the students to seek careers in Polymer based industries, in research and also in teaching profession Post-Graduate Course.

Eligibility

B.Sc Polymer Chemistry

A pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the state or an examination accepted by the University as equivalent to, with Chemistry as one of the subject.

B.Sc Chemistry

A pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the state or an examination accepted by the University as equivalent to, with Chemistry as one of the subject.

M.Sc Polymer Chemistry

5.5 CCPA(S) out of 10. B.Sc with Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry as core course and Mathematics as one of the complimentary course securing not less than 5.5 CCPA(S) out of 10, B.Sc Industrial Chemistry(Vocational) /B.Sc Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry ( Career related / restructured ).

Scope

M.Sc Polymer Chemistry offers huge scope to candidates who have pursued the Post Graduate degree. The can opt for teaching job as a professor or a teacher. The can also work as Pharmaceutical companies, Laboratories, Research Centers , Medical Colleges etc,
